Our Values

The Importance of Clear Values

Our values determine our choices.

Values are more than just expressions of what we believe. They produce our behavior. Therefore, the best way to find our values is to see what we do and not what we say.

Even when values are unconscious, they are equally effective. Problems arise when two or more values conflict and cause inconsistent behavior.

We have defined our values and use them as guidelines for our ministries. This avoids inconsistencies and makes our members understand what we do and the type of behavior we encourage.

Our values are as follows, arranged from high to low priority. We have explained how we apply them. The leadership of Mount Zion Church intends to abide by these values and priorities.

Value 1. Godliness and Integrity

  • Spiritual rebirth and personal relationship with God produce our spiritual walk.
  • The Bible is our final authority.
  • The Fruit of the Spirit and the Gifts of the Spirit are the outflow of our New Heart, not of legalism.
  • We base our actions on our values and priorities.
  • With time, according to our experience, our values and priorities may change. In that case, we will inform the congregation.

Value 2. Healthy Relationships

  • We respect all people because God made them in His image.
  • We are personally committed to each other.
  • Honesty and openness are the basis of good relationships.
  • We will not ignore or allow manipulation and exploitation in our midst.

Value 3. Personal Growth and Participation

  • God calls all believers to full-time ministry.
  • Discipleship is essential for spiritual growth.
  • Ministry is not a profession but a way of life.
  • We recognize that each person is unique, and we encourage personal creativity.
  • Personal growth is possible only with healthy relationships.
  • We will train and release willing people into ministry.
  • A Gift-based ministry is God’s plan for ministry.
  • Evangelism is God’s Commission for every believer.

Value 4. Ministry Operations

  • Unity, central direction, and decentralized execution produce effectiveness.
  • Multiplication is God’s will, and we work to multiply.
  • Leadership development is the key to multiplication.
  • Fulfilling functional responsibilities determines leadership. It is not the title you have but what you do.
  • Participation in leadership requires an agreement with the church’s doctrine and values.
  • We acknowledge the freedom of each person, but we will prayerfully carry out Church Discipline when a member’s behavior has a divisive or negative effect on others.
